Do we need to form a Training Sub-committee?
admin October 24th, 2007
Some questions that were raised during discussions:
- What would be the formal charge?
- Is the institution prepared for the future?
- Do users feel they have the training they need?
Training at NSCC Background
- AT provides instructional design and not neccessarily training. Ideally faculty would receive software training elsewhere and leave AT to concentrate on instructional design with faculty members
- HR provides basic Microsoft Office training (word, excel, powerpoint) and not typically advanced courses
- IS provides training for core applications (GroupWise, Pipeline, Office)
- IS provides new employee training (an orientation to our portal, web site and email system)
- IS picks up all remaining requests for training and either provides the training or coordinates with HR (performed by IS Academic Lab Supervisor/Training Specialist)
