Governance

The Governance System at North Shore Community College is made up of the Coordinating Council and the eight standing committees (listed on right). Committees generally meet once per month and are comprised of representatives from all areas of the College.

Statement of Values:

North Shore Community College’s governance structure allows for shared responsibilities and provides incentives and rewards for participatory decision-making and problem solving, fosters collaboration and accountability, and inspires a sense of ownership and unity among all full and part-time members of the College Community.  In pursuit of these objectives we value a system that:

  1. Is accessible, respects all constituents, and enables all to participate and have influence on decisions that affect them.
  2. Fosters and maintains full and open communication and appropriate sharing of information.
  3. Provides a consistent, yet flexible structure for timely college planning, decision-making and problem solving.
  4. Builds on the collective strength and diversity of the participants enabling all individuals and constituent groups (student, support staff, faculty, administration) to work collaboratively as an integrated system.
  5. Respects the authority of public/college policies and collective bargaining agreements.
